We now have private Fluzone Injectable (for 3 yrs and older) and FluMist intranasal influenza vaccine for the 2010-2011 season. There will be only one influenza vaccine this year, and it includes the 2009 H1N1 strain. The vaccine lasts a full year.
All children ages 6 months and older should receive an influenza vaccine.
Children ages 6 months to 23 months, and children with chronic medical conditions such as moderate asthma or immunosuppression need to get the injectable vaccine- this will arrive by the end of September.
All healthy children ages 2 and older, including mild/well-controlled asthmatics, can get the intranasal vaccine.
If your child is less than 9 years of age, and did not get 2 H1N1 vaccines last year, he will need to get two doses of flu vaccine this season at least 1 month apart. If your child is less than 9 years of age and has never received a flu vaccine before, she will need to get two doses spaced 1 month apart.
We will also vaccinate healthy adults for a $40 fee
We have limited space available for injectable vaccine (ages 3 and older) in our Saturday, September 4th vaccine clinic- please call Megan at (203) 221-7337 to register. FluMist is now fully booked, but more vaccine should arrive soon.
