Appointments
Your time is as valuable as ours. We do our utmost to avoid overbooking and extended waits in our office. When booking your appointment, please advise the receptionist of the number of issues you would like to discuss and whether any siblings also need attention.
For your convenience, we offer a “walk-in” time from 8:30-9:00 AM every weekday. Please limit these visits to acute issues only (i.e. sore throat, ear pain, fever, rash) and set up a regular appointment for chronic issues that deserve more attention.
Our regularly scheduled hours for sick and well visits are as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM (We are closed for lunch between 12 noon and 1:30 PM)
- Saturday/Sunday: Sick visits by appointment
- Weekday evening hours: Check-ups can be arranged with prior approval of the physician
Prescriptions and Referrals
All prescriptions and authorizations for referrals should be requested during normal office hours. For best continuity of care, requests should be directed to your primary physician. Adequate time is needed for all prescription renewals. Referrals require 72 hours notice. We utilize a service called SureScripts that allows us to email your prescriptions to the pharmacy via our Electronic Medical Record system, avoiding long waits at the store and lost prescriptions.
Telephone Care
We are happy to offer physician telephone services for many non-urgent problems, saving you time and travel to our office. Appropriate services include behavioral advice, follow-up of chronic conditions, and medication consultations. Because telephone care involves physician time, expertise, and documentation of the medical care, it is now recognized as a medical encounter and as such is a billable service. You may be responsible for all or part of this fee depending on your individual health plan coverage. We encourage you to contact your health plan to determine their coverage for telephone care. You will always have the option of requesting a same-day appointment for treatment if you prefer.
After Hours Telephone Calls – No nurse triage!
If you have an urgent after hours concern, please call (203) 221-PEDS (7337). You will be given one of our staff's contact number. We do not employ an after hours triage or answering service to manage your calls: you will always be able to easily contact one of us. There is always a physician on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Emergency Care
We recognize that an emergency situation can arise and we will do our best to respond to your needs promptly. In the event of a severe or emergency situation, please call 911 or proceed directly to the Emergency Room. You can always contact us via our main office number (203) 221-7337 at any hour of the day.
Additional Services
We offer a variety of advanced services that allows us to provide valuable assessments in our offiice:
- Electrocardiograms (EKGs)- a measurement of the electrical activity of the heart.
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFTs)- allows us to assess lung function, which can be diminished in diseases such as asthma.
- Otoacoustic Emissions Testing (OAE)- an electronic hearing test that can be done on children of any age (including newborns!)
- SureSight Vision Screening- a "photoscreening" device that allows us to assess vision on infants and children of all ages, and can detect nearsightedness, farsightedness and amblyopia (an imbalance of the eyes.)
- Cholestech cholesterol screening- a full lipid panel (cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides) done on a drop of fingerstick blood.
